When I become something which renders me an unprecedented acclaim and acknowledgement , I pat myself for the choice of the same. I proudly take responsibility of it because I feel like setting an example of perfect choice I have made irrespective of the criteria/criterion I kept in consideration for that particular choice. But when I fail in the choice I make , do I take the responsibility of that choice too? No, most of the times I keep myself in the safe zone by judging those whom I attribute for imposing that choice on me or judging the choice itself or very rarely my own indecisiveness /incapability to make a right choice at all . So I remain in blame and regret mode ignoring the beauty and the learning hidden in the every choice I make. The non-acceptance of a choice does not save us from the experiences of that choice rather it adds on to the misery of not accepting it and resists us from experiencing the new which is coming through it. Hence , a complete negation of my ever transforming being through my choices.
So can we categorize choices as right or wrong? Here I am strongly reminded of renowned American Poet Robert Frost’ classic poem ‘THE ROAD NOT TAKEN’ in which the poet takes up a less trodden path and becomes a successful man. Should the choices be made on the criterion of exclusivity? Can a less chosen path be successful only? Are we going to fail if we make common choices? The answer to all these questions is absolutely ‘NO’. The same choice made by some other person at the same time must have amounted to his complete fiasco.
Therefore , my choice at given point of time is what I have become in my energies. My choice is the manifestation of my energies. The choice of the less trodden path is merely representation of the poet’s need to be different from rest of the world. The other person who never had any wish to be different yet would have chosen less popular path would definitely have lived the inner conflict through this choice. Every choice challenges our potential and has potential to bring us to the threshold of our potential. Denying that we fail our choices but by recognizing self through any choice we make in life , we understand more of ourselves. Till we consider our choices separate from our being, we keep the lessons they bring at bay.
So own up your choices and identify your actual self through your choices as no choice is wrong. There is always a scope of revising and revamping of your decisions. Even a wrong choice (it’s only your perception) must have led you somewhere, ignoring which you will always feel stuck in your journey. Every choice has a role in your life. It came to you to introduce you to yourself.
